Doherty Design Studio

Doherty Design Studio is a multi-disciplinary design practice based in Melbourne. The studio creates tailored residential and commercial environments from concept through to completion throughout Australia.

The studio draws on the strength of its professional inhouse team and collaborations with some of Australia’s leading creatives. It aims to enhance an interior experience through intuitive, holistic design principles and bespoke finishes that express individuality.

Mardi Doherty- Director

Mardi has worked with some of the best residential and commercial firms in Australia and overseas. Her portfolio includes concept and multiple retail fit-outs for international brand Paul & Joe (Australia), Diesel (UK and Europe) through the Conran Group; an interior for Madonna’s London home in Belgravia; fashion brand Flower (Australia), and a retail concept and roll-outs for Victoria’s Secret New York through the much-lauded David Collins Architecture studio.

Approach

Principle characteristics of Doherty Design Studio’s approach are:

Brief  – a crucial early step to planning is to thoroughly familiarise ourselves with the client brief. Alternatively – in collaboration with the client – allow the brief to evolve.
Design – each phase of the design process is rigorously researched and documented. Clients are kept up-to-date and informed at every stage.
Budget – a sound understanding of the importance of budget constraints and implementing strategies to achieve a successful aesthetic result inline with the budget demands of each project.
Authenticity – a unique design response is tailored to meet the needs of each client whether it’s – lifestyle, retail, hospitality and/or branding.
Environment – we place a strong emphasis on ecologically and socially aware design.
Experience – our experienced team takes pride in seeing each project through to its completion, ensuring design integrity is preserved from the beginning to the end.
Collaboration – Doherty Design Studio has a strong history of collaboration, successfully working with architects, builders, cabinet-makers, engineers and graphic designers, ensuring a seamless construction/branding phase and cohesive outcome for each project.
