Beechworth Residence

Refined meets rustic: this contemporary two-level, three-bedroom home in country Victoria was designed and built for a young Melbourne family as their weekender and holiday retreat. The solid granite form of the building is complemented by an atmospheric pitched roof, exposed rafters, and is contrasted with a refined mix of materials and textures. The light-filled interior is restrained and pared back, yet layered. Continuity is achieved through the considered repetition of colours, surfaces and materials. Timber panelling, bespoke joinery, custom-concrete benchtops, terrazzo floors, hand-glazed tiles, ceramic washbasins, tan leather accents and bronze tapware all sit together in quiet harmony. Our clients time living in Japan informed some of the areas including the intimate dining nook, and the selection of finishes.
